What is a School-Parent Compact?

A School-Parent Compact for Achievement is an agreement that parents, students, and teachers
develop together. It explains how parents and teachers will work together to make sure all our students reach grade-level standards.

Effective compacts:

Link to goals of the school improvement plan
Focus on student learning skills
Describe how teachers will help students develop those skills using high-quality instruction
Share strategies parents can use at home
Explain how teachers and parents will communicate about student progress
Describe opportunities for parents to volunteer, observe, and participate in the classroom.

Goals for Student Achievement

WCS District Goals

Goal 1: Increase the WCS graduation rate from

91.13% to 93.13% over the next three yearsfor all
students.

Goal 2: Reduce the achievement gap(s) in English

Language Arts & Mathematics.

Goal 3: To increase the capacity of all WCS

teachers and leadersto enhance student learning
through evidence-based professional learning.

Beaverdale Elementary School Goals and Focus Areas

Goal 1 Our goal is to have an increase of 5% in the number of students scoring in the 41st percentile and above in MAP math from fall 2025 to spring 2026.
Goal 2 K-1st grade: Our goal is to increase the number of students performing at or above grade level from fall 2025 to spring 2026 on the Amira assessment. 2nd-5th grade: Our goal isto have an increase of 5% in the number ofstudentsscoring in the 41st percentile and above in MAP reading from fall 2025to spring 2026.
Goal 3 Our goal is to have 75% of parents attend two parent-teacher conferences either face to face or through a Google Meet in grade K-5th.

Kindergarten

Teacher/School Responsibilities

The Kindergarten teachers will work
with students and their families to support
student success. Some of our key
connections with families will be:
·Communication via daily folder,
communication apps, Class Dojo and
weekly newsletter
·Georgia Kindergarten Inventory of
Developing Skills(G.K.I.D.S. 2.0)
assessment
·Communicate with families and students
to focus on Kindergarten standards via
parent notes and handouts
·Send home books for students to read.
·Communicate student progress through parent conferences.

Family Responsibilities at Home

Beaverdale Elementary School parents
joined the kindergarten staff to develop
ideas about how families can support
students’ success in reading and math.
Parents can help by:
·Practice letters, numbers, sight words & other skills based on needs.
·Read daily with my child for at least 15
minutes from their bag of books.
Practice basic math facts(addition,
subtraction, multiplication, division)
·Continue learning at home by using eSpark
or other online resources.
·Check folder daily, return signed
paperwork in a timely manner, and complete homework.

Student Responsibilities

Beaverdale Elementary School Kindergarten students will work on mastering reading
and math standardsthroughout the year. The following is a list of ideasto make a
connection between learning at home and atschool.
·Involve my family in my learning.
·Communicate effectively and work cooperatively with peers.
·Bring home daily folders.
·Come to school well rested and ready to learn.
·Understand that I am responsible for my own behavior.

1st Grade

Teacher/School Responsibilities

In the 1 Grade Classroom, 1st
teachers will work with students and their families to support students’ success academically and socially. Some of our connections with families will be:
·Provide parents with various online
educational websites that support and/or
supplement our GSE.
·Communication through class newsletters, Class Dojo, Google Classroom, daily student folders, notes, phone calls, emails, and one-on-one conversations.
·Frequent student and parent conferences to track progress, set individual educational goals, and analyze data from assessments

Student Responsibilities

BES students joined staff and parents to develop ideas about how they can
succeed in school as well as improve their reading, math, and writing skills. First grade students decided to adopt the school’s PRIDE statement.

The 2nd grade team will work with students and their families to support students’ success in reading and math. Some of our key connections with families will be:

·Provide Class Dojo messages
·Supply High Frequency Sight Words for practice.
·Opportunities to practice individual reading
with take-home reading books.
·Provide parents with Reflex, eSpark, Epic and various other online educational websites that support and/or supplement our standards.

BES studentsjoined staff and parentsto develop ideas about how they can succeed in school. Students thought of the following ideas to make connections between learning at home and at school.
·Talk with my family about what I am learning in math and practice math facts.
·Read 15 minutes each night. Talk with my family about what I read.
·Ask parents for help with homework.
·Bring home my folder and other important notices and remember to return things
to school.

The third grade team will work with students and their families to support student’s success in all subject areas. Some of our key connections with families will be:

Prodigy, and various other online educational
websites that support and/or supplement our
standards.
·Our Class Dojo pages in forms parents of classroom activities, school news and notes, and skills being covered. Also look for our monthly newsletters.
Frequent student and parent conferences to track progress, set individual educational
goals, and analyze data from assessments through notes, phone calls, email, and one-
on-one conversations.

Student Responsibilities

Beaverdale Elementary school students collaborated with teachers to
develop ideas about how they can succeed in school in all subject areas. The following ideas were conceived and to make connections between learning at home and school:
·Always do my best with classwork and homework.
·Read a book with someone every night for 15-20 minutes.
·Have our homework folder and agenda checked every night.

4th Grade

The 4 grade team will work with
students and their families to provide
students with challenging, meaningful
work and to prepare them for the
transition to fifth grade. Some of our
focus with families will be:

·Encourage student with a positive
attitude.
· Improve communication between
school and home with the use of Class
Dojo and monthly newsletters.
·Provide various proven teaching
strategies to meet individual learning
styles.
·Present new grade level content within a relevant, real world context.

·Have fun with math or reading.
·Play word games with the new
vocabulary words and use these words in family conversations.
·Look for the newsletters once a month,
sign up for Class Dojo, and check out the school website and Facebook page.
·Practice multiplication facts.
-Read 20 minutes each night.

Student Responsibilities

Students in 4 grade will work in the classroom as individuals, within small groups, and as part of the whole group to master grade level content and become successful,self-extending learners with an eye toward a successful fifth grade transition. Students will focus on the following areas:

·Continue to develop personal independence when completing tasksindependently and within
partnerships and groupsin the classroom and at home.
·Develop and maintain organizational and time managementskillsfor successin both the
classroom and at home.
·Use technology to complete assigned taskssuch as homework, classwork, and independent
activities.
·Exhibit focus and sustained effort acrossthe curriculum, and apply new knowledge in math,
reading, and writing instruction to real world experiences.

5th Grade

The 5 grade team will work with students and their families to provide students with challenging, meaningful work and to prepare them for the transition to middle school. Our

* Improving communication between school and home with the use of newsletters and Class Dojo.
* Providing various researched based
teaching strategies to meet individual
learning styles.
* Presenting new grade level content within a relevant, real world context.
